Emperor PG Wants to Change China

mperor PG was looking around from his palace on top of the Great Wall. The mountains were covered
in snow. Rabbits were jumping around, leaving tiny footprints.

On one side of the Wall, there were villages and farms, and lots of trees and grass. On the other
,
it was all tall buildings and factories. The snow was black.
“
I wonder how to get rid of all that pollution.”
The new Emperor had an idea.
“
Ahahah! I know. We should make the dirty side of the Wall the same as the clean side.”
He stroked his cat Mao Mao. She purred, then meowed. It was high pitch, low pitch -- a special call.
Caline Eagle landed on the Wall and asked Mao Mao what she wanted.
“
Please send Caline Termite, Caline Fish and Caline Vacuum Cleaner.”
Caline Eagle flew away to get her magical friends. They held on tight to her feathers.
“
Who are these animals?” asked the Emperor.
“
They are from the Caline family, they will help you clean up China,” said Mao Mao.
He was surprised to hear his cat could talk. But he trusted her.
“
OK, off you go.”
They flew to Yangtze village. It was pretty, with lots of flowers and trees. The villagers didn’t use any
plastic bags, they carried things inside baskets.
“
Could you share with us seeds of all the plants you have?”
The villagers were happy to help.
The Calines got down to work.
Caline Eagle flew around, swallowing pollution in the air.
Caline Termite chomped on skyscrapers, they crumbled and people jumped onto trampolines. She used the
dust to rebuild small houses.
Caline Fish swallowed dirty water in rivers and cleaned them.
Caline Vacuum Cleaner sucked trash. She spat it out, swallowed it again and turned it into compost.
They planted lots of seeds. China was once again green.
But one family was not happy. The Goupis were poor and mean. Their children did not go to school. The
family collected plastic bottles and bags around the Great Wall for recycling.
But now, there was no more work, they could not pay bills and lost their home.
They wanted revenge. At night, Mr and Mrs Goupi silently climbed the Wall. A guard noticed them, they
knocked him out and stole his weapon.
They entered the Emperor’s palace. He was sleeping. They tried to kill him with a sword, but the guards
stopped them.
“
Who are you?” shouted the Emperor.
“
We are the Goupi family. We have lost our home because there is no trash to collect. Our children are
hungry.”
“
Oh that’s terrible, I’m so sad to hear that. But it’s no reason to kill me. I have a job for you. Go and plant
grass and trees on the Wall. You will make money, get your home back, and your children can go to school.”
After that, the Goupis were happy and always came to worship the Emperor.
And the Great Wall is now called the Green Wall of China.
